Inspiration
The idea for this product was conceived when researching for a previous product, Grid Timecard. The project managers on the construction job sites have lot of trouble keeping track of all employees who report to them on that particular job site. This often causes trouble in reporting exact hours the employee worked on the job which in turn causes discrepancy in their wages.

This product aims to solve this problem by allowing the employees to clock in and clock out of their job sites and also capture their locations while doing so.

"... Yes something to show location, some people have problem reporting on time..." - Participant

"Maybe. It will stop them from missing work and clocking in on behalf of their friends who still haven’t reached job sites. That happens a lot." - Participant

Synthesis and Ideation
Observations were made about the ways in which this product would be helpful to the users. These were then used to develop primary and secondary personas of the users who were our target population. An example of the primary user group is given below.

Userflow, sketches and paper prototypes were developed to mimic smartphone interactions which were then used to carry out user testing with our client’s employees on job sites. User testing the prototype with the target audience helped in exposing the limitations/struggles of the interactions within the product and challenged me to develop a more thoughtful product based on the observations gathered. The wireframes below show the userflow to find the location of an employee for all his jobs during selected date range. All the fields are free flowing giving the user control over how to input the data in the fields.

Implementation
The implementation of this product is planned in two stages:
1. A minimal working prototype of the product will be released for users to test in company’s user conference.
2. The observations and feedback from users at user conference will be used to refine the design before final release.
